Craig has had a wide and varied experience of educational leadership and management systems, in New Zealand, Canada and United States, across different sectors: state, private, tertiary, outdoor, and within the New Zealand Ministry of Education. From 2012, he is now developing and applying expertise and experience in the business/corporate sector. He has also returned to teaching during 2015 and part time in 2016 at Lincoln High School, which has provided insights into organisational culture and effectiveness of current change models. It has also reinforced the need for collegiality and a positive professional environment in order for leaders and all staff to be productive, motivated and innovative.  

Leadership and Management Adviser, University of Canterbury Education Plus, Christchurch, New Zealand.(2007 - 2010)

  • Adviser to schools and Principals throughout Canterbury, West Coast and Nelson/Marlborough; coaching and mentoring, leadership development, professional learning groups, strategic planning, school improvement initiatives, senior leadership reviews and team development, change management, curriculum leadership, Maori in the mainstream initiatives, Home School Partnerships (Pasifika focus), schools at risk.  Particular focus and area of expertise: leadership learning and development mentor to Experienced Principals (Ministry of Education programme), First Time Principals, and Aspiring Principals (Ministry of Education programme).

  • Foundation member of Senior Learning Team that developed mission, vision, and values. Involved in all initial staff appointments, performance management, development of overall curriculum framework, policies, learner welfare and leadership, and property including innovative learning spaces. Lead specific portfolios including: behaviour management, special needs education, EOTC, and Sport.
